DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teach and Educate Nursing Students:

  • Provide high-quality instruction on nursing subjects such as anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, clinical nursing skills, patient care, and medical ethics.
  • Facilitate engaging classroom sessions using a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, group discussions, case studies, and practical demonstrations.
  • Ensure that teaching content is accurate, relevant, and aligned with the latest nursing guidelines and best practices.

Develop and Update Curriculum and Course Materials:

  • Collaborate with other faculty members and curriculum developers to design, review, and update the nursing curriculum regularly to meet educational standards.
  • Create comprehensive course materials, including lecture slides, study guides, reading materials, and assignments.
  • Ensure that the curriculum reflects current trends in healthcare, medical technology, and evolving best practices in nursing.

Assess and Evaluate Student Performance:

  • Design and administer a variety of assessments, including written exams, practical tests, presentations, and assignments.
  • Evaluate students’ progress through formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Maintain detailed records of students' grades and academic performance, ensuring that records are up-to-date and accurate.

Supervise Clinical Placements:

  • Provide hands-on training and supervision of nursing students during clinical placements or practicums at healthcare facilities.
  • Monitor and assess students’ ability to perform nursing tasks and procedures in real-world settings, ensuring they follow proper protocols and provide safe patient care.
  • Work closely with clinical staff and preceptors to ensure that students meet learning objectives during clinical rotations.

Student Mentorship and Support:

  • Act as a mentor to nursing students, providing guidance and support throughout their educational journey.
  • Organize and lead student study groups, peer mentoring programs, and other initiatives aimed at improving academic success.
  • Address student concerns and provide a supportive environment conducive to learning and professional growth.

Utilize Educational Technologies:

  • Integrate e-learning platforms, online resources, and multimedia tools into the teaching process to enhance the learning experience.
  • Develop and manage online learning modules and assignments, ensuring students have access to materials and resources outside of traditional classroom settings.

Collaborate with Faculty and Staff:

  • Work closely with other faculty members to ensure a cohesive approach to nursing education and to share best practices for teaching.
  • Contribute to departmental goals and initiatives, such as improving teaching effectiveness or enhancing student outcomes.
  • Provide support for the administrative tasks of the department, including coordinating schedules, handling student inquiries, and managing course logistics.

Promote a Positive Learning Environment:

  • Foster an inclusive and respectful learning environment that encourages diversity, collaboration, and student engagement.
  • Encourage critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills among students.
  • Ensure that students feel comfortable voicing questions and concerns, creating an environment of trust and open communication.

Maintain Professional Relationships:

  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with healthcare providers, clinical supervisors, and other educational institutions.
  • Liaise with healthcare organizations to coordinate clinical placements and internship opportunities for nursing students.

Contribute to Institutional Development:

  • Participate in accreditation and quality assurance processes to ensure that the nursing program meets the required standards.
  • Assist with institutional marketing and recruitment activities by representing the nursing department at career fairs, open days, and other promotional events.
  • Participate in research initiatives or publish academic articles, contributing to the institution's academic standing.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Degree in Nursing or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • At least 3 years of experience in nursing practice.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in teaching or training in a healthcare or educational setting.
  • Proficiency in educational technology and e-learning platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
