DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic HR Partnership:
- Serve as the primary HR point of contact for assigned business units, providing strategic guidance and support to leadership.
- Partner with departmental heads to develop and implement workforce plans that meet current and future talent needs.
- Drive the alignment of HR strategies with the company’s business goals to enhance organizational effectiveness.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning:
- Lead the recruitment and selection process for key roles, ensuring a timely and efficient hiring process.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to define job descriptions, interview formats, and selection criteria.
- Oversee onboarding programs to ensure smooth integration of new employees into the company culture.
Performance Management & Development:
- Implement performance management systems, including setting KPIs, conducting performance appraisals, and managing performance improvement plans.
- Facilitate coaching and development plans for employees and managers to build high-performing teams.
- Identify training needs and coordinate relevant training and development initiatives.
Employee Relations & Engagement:
- Act as a trusted advisor for employee relations matters, addressing grievances, disputes, and disciplinary issues in a fair and timely manner.
- Foster a positive work environment by promoting open communication, trust, and employee involvement.
- Conduct regular staff engagement surveys and develop action plans to improve employee satisfaction and retention.
Policy Implementation & Compliance:
- Develop, update, and enforce HR policies and procedures in line with Kenyan labor laws and industry best practices.
- Ensure organizational compliance with all statutory HR requirements including contracts, health and safety regulations, and NSSF/SHIF/NITA/Paye submissions.
- Serve as the point of contact for labor audits and HR compliance inspections.
HR Operations & Administration:
- Supervise day-to-day HR operations including employee documentation, leave management, benefits administration, and payroll support.
- Maintain and update HR records and systems to ensure accuracy and confidentiality of data.
- Contribute to the digital transformation of HR processes to enhance efficiency.
Change Management & Organizational Development:
- Support leadership in managing change initiatives such as restructures, culture shifts, or new systems.
- Facilitate organizational development interventions that drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Lead internal communication efforts around change, ensuring clarity and minimizing resistance.
HR Analytics & Reporting:
- Track and analyze key HR metrics such as turnover, absenteeism, recruitment KPIs, and training ROI.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly HR reports for management review and decision-making.
- Use data insights to make evidence-based recommendations on HR interventions.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Human Resource Management or related field and CHRP certification
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a HRM or HRBP role, preferably within a busy and structured environment
- Strong understanding of Kenyan labor laws and HR best practices
- Proven experience managing an HR department or team
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and conflict management abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
