DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Operational Management:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the luxury tented camp, ensuring the highest levels of service and guest satisfaction.
  • Ensure that the camp runs efficiently in all areas, including housekeeping, food & beverage, guest services, and staff coordination.
  • Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with the company’s goals and industry best practices.
  • Supervise and manage all camp staff, including guides, chefs, housekeeping, maintenance, and front desk staff.

Guest Experience & Service Quality:

  • Ensure that guests have an exceptional and memorable experience, from arrival to departure.
  • Handle guest feedback, concerns, and complaints in a professional and timely manner, maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate and oversee special guest requests, ensuring that all preferences are met.
  • Monitor and evaluate guest satisfaction through surveys and direct feedback.

Staff Management & Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of staff members, fostering a positive work environment.
  • Conduct regular staff training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop schedules and ensure adequate staffing levels for all operational functions.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, excellence, and guest-first mentality across all departments.

Financial Management:

  • Prepare and manage the camp's budget, ensuring financial objectives are met, and operating costs are controlled.
  • Monitor and report on the camp’s financial performance, including income, expenses, and profitability.
  • Implement cost-saving measures while maintaining high-quality service levels.
  • Handle inventory management for supplies, equipment, and amenities, ensuring efficient usage.

Marketing & Promotion:

  • Assist in the development and execution of marketing strategies to attract high-end clientele to the camp.
  • Work with the marketing team to enhance the camp’s visibility and reputation through social media, advertising, and partnerships.
  • Manage relationships with travel agents, tour operators, and other business partners.
  • Help design and implement promotional packages and seasonal offers.

Health, Safety, and Environmental Management:

  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
  • Implement and oversee security measures to protect guests, staff, and property.
  • Monitor the camp’s environmental impact and adopt sustainable practices wherever possible.
  • Manage emergency preparedness and response protocols.

Guest Activities & Experiences:

  • Collaborate with the guide team to ensure the smooth running of game drives, bush walks, and other activities.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of bespoke experiences for guests, such as cultural visits, private dinners, and wellness experiences.
  • Ensure that all activities are conducted in a safe, enjoyable, and educational manner.

 Reporting & Communication:

  • Report regularly to the senior management team regarding camp performance, guest satisfaction, staff performance, and financial results.
  • Maintain clear and efficient communication with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare monthly operational reports, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and opportunities.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Degree or Diploma in Marketing, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Lodge/Camp Manager, preferably in a luxury safari lodge or tented camp environment
  • Proven leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and manage a diverse team.
  • A strong focus on delivering exceptional guest experiences, with an ability to handle high-net-worth clientele
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, expense control, and reporting
  • Knowledge of and respect for local culture and traditions, and the ability to work in a multicultural environment
