DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain Accurate Financial Records

  • Record day-to-day financial transactions including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments.
  • Ensure all accounting entries are posted correctly and timely into the accounting system.

Monthly and Annual Financial Reporting

  • Prepare and submit monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.

Bank Reconciliation

  • Reconcile all bank accounts regularly and investigate any discrepancies.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date cash book entries and maintain proper documentation of bank transactions.

Accounts Payable and Receivable Management

  • Monitor and manage the company’s outgoing and incoming payments.
  • Ensure timely invoicing, collections from clients, and payments to suppliers and service providers.
  • Follow up on overdue accounts and resolve billing disputes in collaboration with relevant departments.

Tax and Statutory Compliance

  • Prepare and file tax returns (PAYE, VAT, SHIF, NSSF, withholding tax, etc.) in line with KRA regulations.
  • Ensure timely remittance of all statutory deductions and company obligations.
  • Stay updated on relevant tax laws and changes to ensure compliance.

 

 

Process Improvement and Controls

  • Identify gaps in financial processes and recommend improvements.
  • Support implementation of internal controls to enhance financial integrity and safeguard company assets.

Collaboration and Cross-functional Support

  • Work closely with other departments to ensure proper documentation of expenditures, procurement processes, and budget adherence.
  • Provide financial insights to support decision-making across departments.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Diploma or Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • CPA Part II (CPA 2) or higher
  • Minimum of 3 years proven experience in a similar accounting role
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and practices
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
