DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales Growth & Target Achievement:
- Develop and execute strategies to meet or exceed sales targets for the assigned region (Rift Valley & Kisumu).
- Monitor and track sales performance, analyzing data to identify opportunities for improvement and growth.
- Develop sales forecasts and work closely with senior management to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Collaborate with marketing and product teams to implement sales campaigns that drive product visibility and consumer demand.
- Analyze competitors’ strategies and adjust sales tactics to remain competitive in the market.
Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key clients, including retailers, distributors, and wholesalers.
- Act as the primary point of contact for client concerns, feedback, and inquiries, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Conduct regular visits to customers in the assigned region to foster relationships and gather feedback on product performance and market trends.
- Manage customer satisfaction by ensuring the timely delivery of products and maintaining high levels of service quality.
Market Analysis and Planning:
- Continuously analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive activity in the region to identify business opportunities.
- Prepare and implement territory plans that outline sales strategies, promotional activities, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Evaluate market conditions and provide recommendations to management on product pricing, placement, and marketing tactics.
- Monitor and report on the performance of new product launches and promotional campaigns in the region.
Route-to-Market Execution:
- Develop and execute a robust route-to-market (RTM) strategy to ensure efficient distribution of products across the assigned territory.
- Coordinate with logistics teams to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of products to clients.
- Optimize the distribution network to reach all retail channels and customers in the region, focusing on high-impact areas.
- Ensure the effective merchandising and stocking of products in retail outlets to maximize visibility and sales.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, motivate, and manage a team of sales representatives to achieve sales objectives.
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to team members to enhance their skills and performance.
- Set clear performance goals for the team and monitor their progress regularly, offering feedback and coaching as necessary.
- Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular team meetings to review performance, share insights, and align on objectives and strategies.
Reporting:
- Prepare and submit regular sales reports detailing achievements, challenges, and opportunities to senior management.
- Analyze sales data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to provide actionable insights and recommendations.
- Track and report on the effectiveness of promotional activities and market penetration.
- Provide insights on customer behavior, sales trends, and competitor activity to aid in strategic decision-making.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of sales figures, market conditions, and territory performance.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Sales & Marketing or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in sales, preferably in the FMCG sector.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and managing a territory.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel frequently within the assigned region.
