DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales & Market Expansion:
- Research and identify new sales opportunities within the region, targeting potential customers in both urban and rural markets.
- Design and implement effective sales strategies tailored to regional market conditions.
- Collaborate with management to develop accurate sales forecasts and action plans for achieving monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
- Ensure that the company’s products are reaching a broad customer base by targeting under-served areas, exploring new sales channels, and positioning the brand effectively within the region.
Customer Relationship Management:
- Establish strong relationships with key customers (distributors, wholesalers, retailers, and end consumers) and continuously engage with them to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Address customer queries, resolve issues, and ensure that clients are receiving the products and services they need.
- Develop and execute strategies for retaining customers, ensuring high levels of satisfaction, and promoting repeat business.
- Conduct frequent visits to both new and existing customers to maintain relationships, monitor sales, and gather feedback.
Product Promotion & Merchandising:
- Promote the company’s products and services by educating customers on product features, benefits, and usage.
- Ensure that all products are properly displayed, stocked, and advertised within customer outlets.
- Collaborate with marketing to execute local promotions, discounts, and campaigns aimed at increasing product awareness and driving sales.
- Monitor and ensure that the products are presented in line with the company’s quality standards.
Sales Reporting & Analysis:
- Maintain accurate records of all sales activities, including customer interactions, sales achieved, and potential opportunities. Submit weekly and monthly sales reports to management.
- Gather information on competitors, market trends, and customer preferences. Provide insights to the marketing and product development teams for strategic decision-making.
- Use sales data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Evaluate the effectiveness of sales strategies and recommend adjustments as needed.
- Monitor the sales budget for the region, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to maximize ROI on promotional and sales activities.
Sales Target Achievement:
- Consistently achieve sales targets and quotas set for the region by pushing for higher sales and identifying new business opportunities. Regularly track performance against goals.
- Ensure consistent growth in sales revenue by proactively seeking out new sales leads and closing deals. Negotiate contracts and pricing with clients to secure long-term business relationships.
- Manage and oversee key accounts in the region, ensuring they meet their purchase needs and expectations, which in turn supports revenue growth.
Inventory Management:
- Work closely with distributors and the supply chain team to ensure adequate product stock in the region to meet demand. Prevent stockouts and ensure timely replenishment of products.
- Oversee the process of placing and managing orders for customers, ensuring that products are delivered on time and in full.
- Identify and address any logistical or supply chain issues that may hinder product availability or timely delivery to customers.
Brand Advocacy & Networking:
- Act as a brand ambassador for the company at industry events, trade shows, exhibitions, and customer meetings, promoting the brand, products, and services effectively.
- Establish and nurture professional relationships with industry stakeholders, including key suppliers, distributors, and business partners. Leverage these relationships to explore new business opportunities and enhance the company's market presence.
- Participate in local community initiatives and activities that can help boost brand recognition and build goodwill for the company.
Training and Development:
- Stay updated on the company’s product offerings, features, and benefits. Share this knowledge with customers to ensure they are well-informed and confident in their purchasing decisions.
- Continuously enhance personal sales skills and product knowledge. Attend company-sponsored workshops or training sessions as required to improve overall performance.
- Where applicable, assist in mentoring or training new or junior sales representatives to ensure they understand the company’s sales processes and targets.
Feedback and Reporting:
- Provide regular feedback to management on customer needs, market conditions, and competitive activities.
- Communicate important findings to the sales and marketing teams to refine promotional strategies or product offerings.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree or diploma in Sales and Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in direct sales within the FMCG sector.
- Strong ability to drive sales, negotiate effectively, and close deals. Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a passion for building customer relationships.
- Understanding of the FMCG market dynamics, trends, and customer preferences in the Kisumu region.
- Strong time management, problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.
