JOB SUMMARY

To provide strategic financial leadership, ensure sound financial planning, and drive the effective implementation of accounting, financial, procurement, and IT strategies to optimize business performance, ensure compliance, and maintain financial sustainability.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy Formulation & Implementation

  • Contribute to strategic planning by analyzing past performance and aligning financial strategies with the company’s vision and mission.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities through scenario analysis to ensure a positive return on investment for shareholders.
  • Develop and implement an organization-wide IT strategy aligned with long-term business objectives.
  • Highlight the financial impact of strategic decisions through financial modelling to ensure optimal resource allocation (Opex & Capex).

Financial and Procurement Planning

  • Develop financial plans that project revenues, expenditures, and financial needs to ensure sustainable cash flow.
  • Prepare and oversee annual procurement plans, ensuring alignment with the overall business strategy.
  • Manage key supplier relationships to optimize procurement costs while upholding quality and efficiency.

Budgeting & Budget Control

  • Lead the development, administration, and monitoring of the annual financial, procurement, and IT budgets.
  • Ensure adherence to financial and procurement management policies to maximize resource utilization.

 

 

Policy Formulation & Implementation

  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls in compliance with IFRS and other accounting standards.
  • Conduct periodic policy reviews and training to ensure compliance with industry best practices.

Financial Reporting

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Present financial reports to the management, directors, finance committees, and the board as required.

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks through robust internal controls and procedures.
  • Conduct internal audits and facilitate external audits, ensuring compliance with statutory guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement standards, ERP security, and evolving government regulations.

Project Feasibility & Impact Assessment

  • Assess the viability and profitability of business initiatives and advise on strategic investments.
  • Monitor and evaluate projects to ensure they achieve their intended financial and operational benefits.

Team Management & Leadership

  • Build and lead a high-performing finance team by attracting, developing, and retaining top talent.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and professional growth through coaching and mentoring.

IT & Data Management

  • Oversee data security and IT infrastructure to ensure business continuity and system integrity.
  • Drive innovation in financial and operational processes through digital transformation and automation.

 

 

Continuous Improvement & Audit Facilitation

  • Work closely with internal and external auditors to implement best practices for financial, operational, and IT processes.
  • Ensure ongoing improvements in efficiency and compliance with industry standards.

 

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or business-related field.
  • Professional qualification in Finance or Accounting – CPA(K); ACCA
  • Member of Accounting professional body – ICPAK
  • Seven (7) years’ experience five (5) of which must have been in a senior financial position in FMCG environment
  • Able to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure production requirements are met
  • Able to have a long-term perspective of the organization; see the big picture and guide others towards that envisioned goal
