DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Efficient and Timely Deliveries:
- Safely and accurately deliver FMCG products to customers and retail outlets across Nairobi, Rongo, and the Mt. Kenya region.
- Ensure timely deliveries within specified deadlines, adhering to daily and weekly route schedules.
- Organize delivery routes and prioritize deliveries based on customer needs and geographical locations.
Route Planning and Navigation:
- Utilize GPS or local knowledge to plan the most efficient delivery routes to minimize delays and fuel consumption.
- Ensure proper knowledge and understanding of the geographical area, including major roads, shortcuts, and alternative routes.
- Stay updated on road closures, construction zones, or traffic disruptions, adjusting routes as needed to maintain delivery schedules.
Customer Relations and Service:
- Act as a professional representative of the company when interacting with customers, offering exceptional customer service and addressing any concerns promptly.
- Maintain clear communication with customers regarding delivery times, delays, or issues, ensuring transparency and a positive customer experience.
- Handle customer inquiries or concerns related to delivery, escalating complex issues to the management team.
Vehicle Maintenance and Safety:
- Ensure the motorbike is in good working condition, performing routine checks such as oil levels, tire pressure, and brakes before and after each trip.
- Report any mechanical issues or accidents to the supervisor promptly, ensuring that repairs are made quickly and minimizing downtime.
- Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of the vehicle, ensuring it reflects the professional image of the company.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, including wearing appropriate protective gear, and follow safe riding practices.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including time of delivery, recipient’s signature, and any issues encountered during the process.
- Complete daily reports detailing mileage, fuel consumption, maintenance requirements, and any customer feedback.
- Document any problems or delivery issues (e.g., missed deliveries, damaged goods) and communicate them to management for resolution.
Compliance with Company Policies:
- Follow all traffic laws and adhere to company policies regarding safe driving, vehicle maintenance, and delivery protocols.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including the safe handling and transportation of goods.
- Abide by the company’s code of conduct and represent the brand professionally during all interactions with customers and other stakeholders.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Work closely with the logistics and warehouse teams to ensure smooth coordination of deliveries.
- Provide feedback to the management team regarding the efficiency of current delivery processes, suggesting areas for improvement.
- Contribute to team efforts to improve service quality, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
Problem Solving and Flexibility:
- Handle unforeseen challenges such as road closures, weather-related delays, or traffic congestion efficiently to minimize disruptions.
- Be adaptable to changes in the delivery schedule, new customer demands, or shifts in routes, ensuring that service standards are met despite challenges.
- Resolve customer complaints or delivery issues in a calm and professional manner, seeking timely solutions.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Minimum of 2 years as a distribution rider, specifically in FMCG or a fast-paced delivery environment
- Valid motorbike driving license.
- Ability to carry out physical tasks, including lifting and delivering products
- Good verbal communication skills for effective customer interaction
