DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prospecting and Lead Generation: Actively identify and prospect new customers within the hardware, construction, and auto industries, including both small businesses and large enterprises.
- Sales Targeting: Set and work towards achieving monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets. Focus on expanding our customer base and increasing product sales through proactive field visits.
- Cold Calling and Outreach: Reach out to potential customers through cold calling, networking, and in-person visits to generate new leads and establish opportunities.
- Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Client Retention: Regularly follow up with customers to check on product satisfaction, resolve any issues, and ensure repeat business.
- Customer Needs Assessment: Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate products that align with their business requirements.
- Feedback Gathering: Collect customer feedback and suggestions on tools and machinery, ensuring their needs are met and relaying the information to the product development team if necessary.
- Product Knowledge: Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of all products, including technical specifications, competitive advantages, and best-use scenarios.
- Product Demonstrations: Conduct product demonstrations for potential customers, showing the benefits and performance of tools and machinery to generate interest and sales.
- In-Store Promotions: Ensure visibility of our products in stores, working with retailers to promote special offers, new product launches, and promotions that help boost sales.
- Brand Ambassador: Serve as a professional brand ambassador, consistently representing the company with integrity and professionalism in all customer interactions.
- Price Negotiations: Engage in negotiations with customers on pricing, discounts, and payment terms. Ensure that both the customer and the company’s goals are met.
- Closing Sales: Effectively close sales deals, ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed and that the customer is satisfied with the agreement.
- Competitor Insights: Regularly analyze competitor offerings, pricing strategies, and market trends to identify opportunities for differentiation and competitive advantage.
- Market Trends: Stay informed about market trends, industry standards, and emerging technologies related to tools and machinery to identify new business opportunities and adapt sales strategies.
- Reporting on Market Activity: Share insights about customer preferences, challenges, and market changes with the team to inform future strategies.
- Sales Reports: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of sales activities, opportunities, customer interactions, and progress towards sales targets using CRM software or other tools.
- Documentation: Ensure all sales documentation (orders, quotations, contracts, etc.) is properly completed, signed, and submitted according to company policies.
- Monthly/Quarterly Reports: Provide regular updates to the sales manager, detailing performance against targets, customer interactions, and upcoming opportunities.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing team, logistics, and product management to ensure a seamless customer experience, from inquiry to after-sales support.
- Problem Resolution: Liaise with the customer service team to resolve any post-sale issues related to deliveries, product quality, or technical support, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Frequent Travel: Be prepared to spend significant time in the field visiting potential customers and maintaining relationships with existing ones across the Nairobi-Mombasa Road corridor.
- Territory Management: Take ownership of the assigned sales territory, ensuring that all key accounts and opportunities are effectively covered.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree/Diploma in any field
- 3 plus years experience selling tools and machinery mostly targeting Hardwares, Construction and Auto shops
- Strong sales and negotiation skills, with the ability to close deals and manage long-term client relationships
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, both verbal and written
- Comfortable with frequent field visits and managing relationships in-person with various clients and customers
