DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Drive Sales Growth
- Actively pursue and close new business opportunities to meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets.
- Develop and implement territory sales plans that align with the company’s overall objectives.
- Identify and approach potential clients in construction, real estate, industrial, and retail sectors.
- Upsell and cross-sell paint products and related solutions based on customer needs.
Client Acquisition & Retention
- Identify key decision-makers in target organizations and build trusted relationships.
- Create tailored proposals and conduct persuasive presentations or product demos to win client accounts.
- Ensure excellent onboarding of new customers to foster loyalty from the first transaction.
- Maintain continuous engagement with existing clients to encourage repeat purchases and long-term partnerships.
Market Penetration & Expansion
- Map out and expand into underserved areas and emerging markets within and outside Nairobi.
- Develop channel partnerships with hardware stores, contractors, distributors, and architects to boost product availability.
- Monitor competitors’ activities, pricing strategies, and promotions to stay ahead in the market.
Account Management
- Maintain and manage a portfolio of active clients, ensuring timely deliveries, follow-ups, and service support.
- Resolve complaints or challenges quickly while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Collect customer feedback and relay it to the product and management teams for continuous improvement.
- Monitor credit limits and payment cycles of clients, and follow up on outstanding invoices where applicable.
Reporting & Forecasting
- Maintain accurate records of all sales activities using CRM tools or other designated systems.
- Prepare regular sales reports, forecasts, and updates for management review.
- Analyze sales trends, customer data, and conversion metrics to refine sales strategies.
Product Knowledge & Technical Consultation
- Stay up-to-date on the technical specifications, advantages, and application processes of the company’s paint products.
- Advise clients on proper product selection based on surface type, weather conditions, and durability needs.
- Collaborate with the technical team to offer on-site support or demonstrations when required.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Liaise with marketing teams to support promotional campaigns, events, and brand awareness activities.
- Work closely with the logistics team to ensure timely and accurate product deliveries.
- Communicate client needs and feedback to the production and R&D teams for potential product development.
Compliance & Ethics
- Ensure all sales activities comply with the company’s policies, pricing structures, and ethical standards.
- Maintain professional conduct while representing the company in all external engagements.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Sales & Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in sales within the Paint Industry, FMCG, or Building Materials sectors.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong ability to establish rapport and build long-term business relationships
- Demonstrated ability to manage client accounts effectively
- Good knowledge of the Nairobi market and surrounding regions
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and sales CRM systems
