JOB SUMMARY
The Regional Sales Representative will be responsible for driving sales, promoting the company’s products, and managing customer relationships within the Kisumu and Western regions. The role requires an individual with strong sales experience, leadership potential, and in-depth knowledge of the local market. This position will require the ability to work independently, develop new business opportunities, and ensure the successful delivery of sales targets in the assigned regions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales Performance & Target Achievement
- Achieve monthly and quarterly sales targets for the company’s products within the Kisumu and Western regions.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the assigned region, expanding the customer base and increasing market share.
- Actively engage with key distributors, wholesalers, retailers, and other stakeholders to drive sales and ensure product availability.
Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key customers and business partners, ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Conduct regular visits to customers and potential clients to provide product information, resolve issues, and strengthen business partnerships.
- Ensure timely and efficient service delivery to customers, addressing any queries, complaints, or concerns that may arise.
Market Intelligence & Territory Development
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to provide insights for sales strategies.
- Continuously assess customer needs and adapt sales strategies to maximize opportunities in the region.
- Identify new potential customers and distribution channels within the assigned region, contributing to Melvin’s Tea’s growth and market penetration.
Sales Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and feedback in CRM systems.
- Provide regular sales reports to the Territorial Sales Manager and Regional Sales Manager, highlighting progress, challenges, and opportunities.
- Report on market dynamics, including competitor activity, product performance, and customer behavior.
Product Promotion & Merchandising
- Ensure the visibility of the company’s products in stores, retail outlets, and other sales points.
- Work closely with the marketing team to support promotional campaigns, product launches, and in-store displays.
- Train and support customers (retailers and distributors) on product features, benefits, and proper handling to maximize sales.
Team Collaboration & Leadership
- Provide guidance and leadership to junior sales staff or distributors in the region.
- Act as a mentor to new or less experienced team members, offering coaching and support as needed.
- Work collaboratively with the Territorial Sales Manager and other team members to implement sales initiatives and achieve regional targets.
Feedback & Continuous Improvement
- Gather and provide feedback from customers, distributors, and the market to help refine sales strategies.
- Share insights on customer preferences, emerging market trends, and product reception to assist in product development and strategy adjustments.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to improve knowledge, performance, and alignment with company objectives.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Diploma or Degree in Sales, Marketing, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in FMCG sales, preferably in the Kisumu and Western regions.
- Prior experience in sales and customer relationship management within the FMCG sector is essential.
- Demonstrated success in achieving sales targets and developing new business within a specified region.
- In-depth knowledge of the Kisumu and Western regions, including key customers, competitors, and market dynamics.
- Familiarity with local consumer preferences and purchasing behavior is highly desirable.
