MILKING PARLOUR SUPERVISOR (DAIRY TECHNICIAN)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Milking Operations: Oversee and conduct all milking procedures, ensuring efficiency and adherence to best practices.
• Milk Hygiene and Quality Control: Implement and monitor stringent hygiene protocols to ensure the production of high-quality milk. This includes handling and maintaining milking equipment.
• Animal Health and Welfare: Monitor the health of lactating cows, identify potential health issues, and ensure their overall welfare.
• Management of Lactating Cows: Manage the daily routines and needs of lactating cows.
• Mastitis Control: Implement preventative measures and control strategies for mastitis.
• Recording Milk Production Data: Accurately record and maintain data related to milk production.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

• 7-10 years of relevant experience managing a busy dairy milking farm and systems such as parallel system, Tandem, Herringbone, Rotary or Robotic parlours
• Strong understanding of milking operations, milk hygiene, and quality control
• Knowledge of animal health and welfare practices, particularly concerning lactating cows and mastitis control
• Ability to accurately record and manage data
• Strong practical skills in handling and maintaining milking equipment
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
