DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee Daily Hospital Operations
- Ensure smooth operation of all departments, including medical, administrative, and support services.
 - Supervise the hospital's functional activities and workflows, making adjustments where necessary to ensure efficiency.
 - Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for hospital operations, patient care, and administrative functions.
 - Resolve operational issues quickly to minimize disruption to services and patient care.
 
Financial Management & Budgeting
- Develop and manage the hospital’s annual operating budget, ensuring the effective allocation of resources.
 - Implement and monitor cost-control measures, while maintaining high standards of service delivery.
 - Track revenue and expenses, and provide detailed financial reports to the board and other stakeholders.
 - Identify and pursue opportunities for financial growth, such as expanding service lines, improving billing processes, and negotiating with insurance providers.
 - Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
 
Staff Supervision and Development
- Lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team of healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, administrators, and support staff.
 - Foster a collaborative and respectful work environment where staff are empowered and motivated to perform their best.
 - Develop and implement recruitment strategies to hire qualified staff to fill vacancies in a timely manner.
 - Ensure ongoing staff training and professional development programs to keep staff up-to-date with the latest medical practices, compliance requirements, and technological advancements.
 - Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to staff to improve overall performance and professional growth.
 
Compliance, Accreditation, and Legal Affairs
- Ensure that the hospital operates in full compliance with national health regulations and industry standards.
 - Keep up-to-date with changes in healthcare laws, regulations, and standards to ensure the hospital remains compliant.
 - Work closely with regulatory bodies and accrediting agencies to secure and maintain necessary licenses, certifications, and accreditations.
 - Develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures that support legal compliance, patient safety, and risk management.
 
Strategic Planning and Growth
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop long-term strategic goals and plans for hospital growth, service expansion, and improving healthcare outcomes.
 - Analyze market trends, patient demographics, and competitive landscape to make informed decisions about the future direction of the hospital.
 - Lead initiatives to expand hospital services, enhance operational efficiency, and explore new revenue streams.
 - Oversee the implementation of innovative healthcare models, including telemedicine or specialized treatment programs.
 
Patient Care & Satisfaction
- Ensure that patient care is at the heart of all hospital operations, adhering to the highest standards of medical ethics and professionalism.
 - Develop and maintain systems to ensure patient satisfaction through improved service delivery, reduced wait times, and personalized care.
 - Monitor and address patient complaints, concerns, and feedback to continuously improve the patient experience.
 - Ensure that the hospital meets patient safety standards, addressing any issues that could compromise patient care.
 
Risk Management & Health and Safety
- Identify potential risks to patient care, staff safety, and hospital operations, and develop plans to mitigate them.
 - Oversee health and safety protocols, ensuring that the hospital meets all health and safety guidelines, from infection control to building safety standards.
 - Ensure the hospital has robust emergency response protocols for various crises, including natural disasters, pandemics, or mass casualty events.
 - Regularly conduct risk assessments and safety audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure proactive risk management.
 
Healthcare Technology & Innovation
- Oversee the adoption and integration of new healthcare technologies that improve hospital operations, patient care, and overall efficiency.
 - Ensure that Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and other healthcare IT systems are properly managed, secure, and in compliance with relevant standards.
 - Evaluate and recommend technologies that streamline hospital workflows, enhance medical imaging, improve diagnostic capabilities, and automate administrative tasks.
 - Encourage a culture of innovation and technological advancement, keeping the hospital at the forefront of healthcare delivery.
 
Public Relations & Community Engagement
- Act as the primary spokesperson for the hospital, ensuring effective communication with external stakeholders, including patients, the media, and the local community.
 - Develop and implement a public relations strategy that promotes the hospital’s services and reputation.
 - Engage in community outreach programs to build relationships with local organizations, schools, and other entities.
 - Strengthen partnerships with local government agencies, insurance companies, and healthcare organizations to expand the hospital’s presence and influence in the region.
 
Administrative Reporting and Decision-Making
- Provide detailed reports to the hospital board, executive team, and stakeholders regarding hospital performance, financial status, and strategic initiatives.
 - Use data-driven insights to guide decision-making and continuously optimize hospital operations.
 - Recommend and implement improvements based on hospital performance analytics, employee feedback, and patient satisfaction surveys.
 - Prepare and manage critical reports for regulatory compliance and internal audits.
 
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or a related field
 - At least 5 years of progressive experience in hospital administration or healthcare management
 - Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage multidisciplinary teams within a hospital setting
 - Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
 - Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and resolve complex issues related to hospital operations
 - A deep understanding of local healthcare laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
