JOB SUMMARY

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Auto Electrical Engineer to manage and perform electrical maintenance, repair, and installation tasks on heavy equipment, industrial generators, and crusher plant systems. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on expertise in diagnosing complex electrical issues, ensuring equipment safety and reliability, and supporting integrated mechanical-electrical maintenance operations. This is a critical role for ensuring the seamless and safe functioning of key machinery across our operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Electrical Maintenance and Repairs

  • Carry out routine and emergency electrical maintenance on heavy machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, dump trucks, and industrial generators.
  • Perform component-level repairs on starters, alternators, lighting systems, relays, control panels, wiring harnesses, and battery systems.
  • Ensure electrical systems are in optimal working condition to minimize equipment downtime and increase productivity.

Fault Diagnosis and Troubleshooting

  • Utilize diagnostic tools (multimeters, scanners, fault code readers, etc.) to identify faults in electrical circuits, control systems, and sensor modules.
  • Isolate root causes of electrical issues in equipment and recommend cost-effective, timely solutions.
  • Collaborate with operators and technicians to gather symptoms and prioritize urgent repairs.

Installation and Commissioning

  • Install and configure electrical systems, harnesses, and components on new or modified heavy equipment and fixed plant systems (e.g., crushers and conveyors).
  • Conduct pre-commissioning checks, insulation resistance testing, continuity checks, and functional testing to ensure safe system performance.
  • Align installations with manufacturer specifications, local codes, and safety regulations.

System Testing and Compliance

  • Perform regular inspection and testing of electrical systems using appropriate tools and techniques to ensure compliance with operational and safety standards.
  • Document test results and implement necessary corrections to maintain equipment reliability and electrical safety.
  • Participate in internal and external audits by ensuring compliance with HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) and electrical safety procedures.

Control Systems and Automation Support

  • Maintain and troubleshoot control panels, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and sensor-actuator networks associated with industrial systems like crushers and conveyors.
  • Assist in programming or parameter configuration for control logic related to motor starters, soft starters, and VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives).

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

  • Work closely with mechanical engineers and technicians during scheduled maintenance and breakdown repairs, ensuring integrated system support.
  • Provide electrical expertise during mechanical overhauls and participate in cross-functional problem-solving sessions.

Preventive Maintenance and Inspections

  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules for critical electrical systems, reducing the likelihood of unplanned failures.
  • Conduct visual inspections, thermal imaging, and wear assessments to detect early signs of electrical degradation or overload.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate logs of maintenance tasks, repairs performed, materials used, and labor hours for each job.
  • Prepare technical reports and maintenance summaries for submission to supervisors or engineering management.
  • Assist in maintaining equipment maintenance histories to aid future planning and fault trend analysis.

Inventory and Resource Planning

  • Assist in identifying and requesting electrical spare parts, consumables, and tools to maintain maintenance readiness.
  • Ensure all tools and diagnostic equipment are calibrated and in good working condition.

Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance

  • Adhere strictly to company safety standards, lockout-tagout (LOTO) procedures, and electrical safety protocols while working on energized equipment.
  • Wear proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and ensure a safe working environment for self and others.
  • Report hazards, near misses, and unsafe practices to the HSE department.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Degree or Diploma in Auto Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (with relevant experience in heavy machinery)
  • 5 to 10 years of practical experience working with heavy-duty automotive electrical systems and industrial plant equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Familiarity with generator systems, battery storage, and load distribution
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose issues effectively
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
  • Willingness to work in field environments and outside of standard working hours when necessary
