DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and Deliver Fitness Programs
- Design and implement age-appropriate fitness programs for students, tailored to different fitness levels and needs.
- Lead structured physical fitness classes that build strength, flexibility, endurance, and coordination.
- Create workout routines for individuals and groups, incorporating cardiovascular training, strength training, stretching, and mobility work.
Conduct Fitness Assessments
- Perform baseline fitness assessments for students and staff to evaluate physical health and performance levels.
- Track individual progress and adjust programs as necessary to help participants meet fitness goals safely and effectively.
Teach Group Exercise Classes
- Conduct a variety of group exercise classes such as yoga, aerobics, circuit training, and bodyweight workouts.
- Ensure inclusive participation and modify exercises for different ability levels within a class.
Supervise Gym Facility
- Monitor the use of gym equipment, ensuring safe operation and proper technique.
- Enforce gym rules and promote a positive workout environment for all users.
- Ensure gym equipment is cleaned, maintained, and reported for repair as needed.
Health & Safety
- Act as the first responder in case of injuries or medical emergencies in the gym area.
- Administer First Aid or CPR when required, and maintain updated certifications at all times.
- Promote injury prevention techniques and educate students on proper exercise form.
Promote a Healthy Lifestyle
- Educate students and staff on the benefits of regular physical activity and balanced nutrition.
- Provide informal coaching and wellness advice to encourage healthy habits.
Collaborate with School Staff
- Work closely with PE teachers to support the school’s physical education curriculum and extracurricular sports.
- Assist in conditioning programs for sports teams and prepare students for inter-school competitions.
Student Engagement and Behavior Management
- Foster a respectful, inclusive, and motivating gym culture.
- Encourage student participation while managing behavior positively and constructively.
Record-Keeping and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, fitness progress, and incidents.
- Provide periodic reports to the Head of Sports or School Administrator on gym usage and student outcomes.
Participation in School Activities
- Support school events such as sports days, wellness weeks, or fitness challenges.
- Contribute ideas to school wellness initiatives and help implement programs promoting mental and physical well-being.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Diploma or Degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, or a related field
- Certification in Fitness Instruction (e.g., ACE, NASM, or equivalent)
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a fitness instructor or personal trainer
- Proficiency in a variety of exercise techniques and fitness equipment
- Experience working with diverse age groups, including youth, seniors, and beginners
- Ability to design age-appropriate programs for school-aged children
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills
- Yoga instruction experience is a strong advantage
