DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Fleet Operations Management:

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the fleet, ensuring timely and safe transportation of goods and services.
  • Ensure all vehicles are properly scheduled, including determining the best routes and managing delivery timelines.
  • Monitor and coordinate the movement of vehicles, ensuring they are used efficiently and effectively to maximize output.

Driver Coordination:

  • Coordinate with drivers to ensure they are aware of their schedules, routes, and any special delivery instructions.
  • Provide direction and support to drivers to resolve issues related to the fleet and customer deliveries.
  • Regularly review driver performance, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, company policies, and road regulations.

Fleet Maintenance and Safety:

  • Oversee the scheduling and tracking of vehicle maintenance, ensuring all vehicles are in good condition and compliant with safety regulations.
  • Ensure vehicles undergo routine checks, such as oil changes, tire inspections, brake testing, and any other necessary repairs.
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to safety standards for all vehicles and drivers, ensuring that company vehicles are always fully insured and registered.

Fleet Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the fleet’s operating budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to maximize cost-effectiveness.
  • Monitor and control fleet-related expenses, including fuel consumption, maintenance costs, insurance, and driver overtime.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving measures without compromising on safety or service quality.

Operational Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, government regulations, and company policies related to fleet operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all fleet activities, including vehicle servicing, driver performance, and operational expenditures.
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports to management on fleet performance, vehicle conditions, and any other relevant operational data.

Logistical Planning and Coordination:

  • Coordinate with other departments (e.g., sales, customer service, and warehousing) to ensure smooth execution of logistics and transportation operations.
  • Develop operational plans and strategies to optimize fleet utilization, ensuring the right vehicle is available for the right job at the right time.
  • Manage emergency logistics operations or unplanned service disruptions, ensuring timely resolutions.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead a team of drivers and support staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement within the fleet department.
  • Address staff concerns, resolve disputes, and ensure a positive work environment.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Diploma/Degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar operations management role, preferably in a moving company.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead and work collaboratively with a diverse team.
  • Proficient in fleet management software and MS Office tools.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent communication skills.
