DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Prospecting and Acquisition

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the assigned territory (Nairobi or Mombasa).
  • Conduct cold calls, field visits, and online research to generate new leads.
  • Attend relevant trade events, exhibitions, and industry forums to expand network and identify sales prospects.
  • Strategically target high-potential clients such as hardware stores, construction companies, and automotive repair centers.

Sales Execution and Product Promotion

  • Present, promote, and sell the company’s range of machinery and power tools using solid technical knowledge and persuasive communication.
  • Conduct onsite demonstrations of machinery/tools to potential clients, ensuring understanding of product features and benefits.
  • Customize sales pitches to match customer needs, offering product solutions that align with their operations.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions within company guidelines to close deals effectively.

Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers through regular check-ins, after-sales support, and personalized attention.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for client queries, issues, or technical assistance and escalate to internal support when necessary.
  • Maintain customer loyalty through consistent follow-ups, service quality, and satisfaction monitoring.

Territory and Time Management

  • Plan and organize daily field routes efficiently to maximize customer visits and minimize travel costs.
  • Maintain a well-structured call plan, ensuring regular coverage of high-priority clients and zones.
  • Document all customer interactions, visit notes, and progress updates in a timely manner.

Sales Reporting and Performance Tracking

  • Submit detailed weekly reports outlining client visits, sales pipeline, closed deals, and market intelligence.
  • Track and report sales figures, targets, and commissions to the Sales Manager.
  • Provide feedback on product performance and customer preferences to help improve offerings and marketing strategies.

Market Intelligence and Competitor Analysis

  • Stay informed about competitors’ activities, product offerings, pricing, and promotions.
  • Gather on-ground market insights on trends, customer demands, and emerging opportunities.
  • Recommend changes or additions to the product line based on field feedback.

Collections and Account Management

  • Monitor accounts receivable and follow up with clients to ensure timely payment collection.
  • Resolve payment delays or disputes with professionalism and escalate serious cases when required.

Product Knowledge and Training

  • Attend internal product training sessions and stay updated on new tools, technologies, and industry standards.
  • Demonstrate strong technical understanding of each product to effectively answer customer questions and provide informed recommendations.

 

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Diploma or Degree in Sales & Marketing, Business, Engineering, or any related field
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on sales experience, specifically in power tools, machinery, or related technical products
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Strong customer engagement and negotiation skills
  • Must be self-motivated, hardworking, and results-oriented
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in MS Office and sales reporting tools
  • Must be willing to travel extensively within assigned region
