DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Development & Strategy
- Identify and develop new business opportunities in the polymers and specialty chemicals sector across East Africa.
- Formulate and execute regional growth strategies in alignment with company objectives.
- Conduct market analysis to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive activity.
Sales & Revenue Generation
- Drive revenue growth through direct sales, client acquisition, and strategic partnerships.
- Develop tailored proposals and pricing strategies in coordination with internal stakeholders.
- Monitor and achieve sales targets, KPIs, and performance metrics.
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, distributors, manufacturers, and end-users.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, providing ongoing support, technical insights, and solutions.
- Negotiate contracts and close long-term agreements with major clients.
Operational & Cross-functional Coordination
- Collaborate with supply chain, logistics, finance, and technical teams to ensure smooth order execution and customer satisfaction.
- Provide market intelligence and customer feedback to inform product development and portfolio optimization.
Reporting & Forecasting
- Prepare regular reports on business performance, forecasts, pipeline updates, and market insights.
- Participate in regional and global sales meetings, trade shows, and industry events.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in business development, sales, or trading in the chemicals or polymers industry
- Strong understanding of the East African chemical market landscape, with a network of industry contacts
- Demonstrated success in achieving and exceeding sales targets
- Experience working with commodity and specialty polymers, including polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC, etc., is highly desirable
