DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operate and Monitor Batching Plant Equipment:

  • Ensure accurate batching of concrete mixes according to project specifications using automated or manual controls.
  • Monitor control panels, sensors, and gauges to oversee mixing cycles and detect system irregularities.
  • Adjust water, cement, and aggregate ratios to achieve desired mix consistency and strength.

Ensure Product Quality and Consistency:

  • Conduct visual inspections of concrete mix for consistency, slump, and workability before dispatch.
  • Work closely with the quality control team to perform routine sampling and testing of mixes.
  • Adjust recipes and mix designs as needed, based on field performance and feedback from the site.

Routine Maintenance and Equipment Care:

  • Carry out daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance checks to prevent breakdowns and prolong machine life.
  • Clean hoppers, conveyors, mixer drums, and plant surroundings after each production cycle.
  • Identify worn parts, leakages, or potential hazards and report them for timely repair or replacement.

Calibrate Batching Equipment:

  • Regularly calibrate load cells, weighing scales, moisture sensors, and flow meters to maintain accuracy.
  • Document calibration activities and ensure compliance with both internal quality systems and external regulations.

 

Record Keeping and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate logs of daily production volumes, materials consumed, and downtime events.
  • Submit daily production reports and material usage summaries to the Plant Manager or Project Engineer.
  • Keep digital or paper records in accordance with company procedures and audit requirements.

Inventory and Material Management:

  • Monitor stock levels of raw materials (cement, sand, gravel, water, admixtures) and raise requests for reordering in advance.
  • Ensure proper storage of materials to prevent contamination or degradation.
  • Verify delivery notes and assist with offloading and material checks when needed.

 Compliance with Safety and Environmental Standards:

  • Enforce and follow all health and safety procedures while operating the plant.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure others in the batching area do the same.
  • Prevent environmental hazards such as dust emissions, spillage of admixtures, or water pollution from the plant site.

 Team Coordination and Communication:

  • Liaise with site engineers, logistics teams, and drivers to coordinate timely concrete dispatch and delivery.
  • Communicate any delays, changes in mix design, or plant issues promptly to site supervisors.
  • Train junior plant assistants or helpers on batching procedures, safety, and maintenance protocols when necessary.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Certificate or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in operating and maintaining concrete batching plants.
  • Hands-on knowledge of batching systems, equipment calibration, and automated plant controls
  • Strong technical aptitude and mechanical knowledge
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality production
  • Good communication and record-keeping skills
  • Knowledge of construction safety standards and protocols
