DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Agribusiness Strategy & Management:

  • Develop and implement agricultural business strategies aimed at increasing efficiency, profitability, and sustainability.
  • Conduct market research to identify industry trends, consumer demand, and competitive advantages in the avocado and herb markets.
  • Oversee production schedules and supply chain management, ensuring timely delivery of products to markets.

Crop Management:

  • Plan and manage the cultivation of avocados and herbs, including soil preparation, crop rotation, irrigation systems, and pest control measures.
  • Advise on optimal planting techniques, crop selection (varieties), and spacing for maximum yield and quality.
  • Implement and monitor agronomic practices that enhance the growth and health of avocado and herb plants.
  • Manage crop nutrition programs, including fertilizer application and soil health management.

Harvesting & Post-Harvest Management:

  • Develop and enforce best practices for harvesting techniques to ensure top-quality avocado and herb products.
  • Supervise post-harvest handling processes to minimize waste, ensure proper storage, and maintain product integrity.
  • Work closely with packaging and logistics teams to ensure the safe transportation and delivery of products to domestic and international markets.

Compliance & Certification:

  • Oversee all activities related to regulatory compliance, ensuring adherence to local, national, and international agricultural laws and standards.
  • Guide the company through the process of obtaining and maintaining essential certifications for avocado and herb farming operations.
  • Prepare for and manage audits related to agricultural practices, ensuring documentation and procedures align with industry standards.
  • Implement sustainable farming practices, minimize environmental impacts, and ensure that the company meets environmental regulations and guidelines.

Research & Development:

  • Lead agronomic research to improve crop yields, pest management, soil fertility, and irrigation practices specific to avocados and herbs.
  • Test and implement new farming technologies, equipment, and methods to enhance overall farm productivity.
  • Collaborate with research institutions, agronomy experts, and stakeholders to stay updated on innovations in agricultural practices.

Team Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to farm staff, ensuring proper training on agronomic practices, compliance requirements, and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as marketing, sales, and logistics to align agricultural production with business objectives.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and efficiency within the farm team.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of farming activities, compliance reports, certification documents, and crop performance data.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management regarding crop yields, financial performance, compliance status, and market trends.
  • Ensure that all farm activities are documented in accordance with relevant regulatory standards.

 

  • KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
  • Degree or Diploma in a Business-related field & CPA K
  • 3-5 years of experience in a general accounting role, preferably within a busy manufacturing company.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and taxation.
  • Proficient in accounting software; experience with Navision is highly preferred.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
