Summary of the job role:

The Accounts Assistant will support in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a basic understanding of accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and record financial transactions, including invoices, payments, and receipts.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements.
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure accuracy in financial records.
  • Maintain and update accounts payable and receivable ledgers.
  • Monitor and manage petty cash transactions.
  • Support the preparation and filing of tax returns (VAT, PAYE, etc.) as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of financial records.
  • Provide support during audits by preparing necessary documentation.
  • Respond to inquiries and provide financial information to relevant stakeholders.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A degree in Accounting is an added advantage.
  • CPA Part I or II qualification is preferred.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the construction or real estate industry.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Basic understanding of Kenyan tax laws and accounting principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
