DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage all daily accounting functions, including handling of financial entries and posting them into the accounting system (Tally ERP).
  • Maintain accurate records of expenses, revenues, and cash flow to ensure smooth financial operations.
  • Prepare and manage journals and vouchers to ensure complete and up-to-date financial data.
  • Prepare comprehensive monthly reports, including Profit & Loss statements, balance sheets, and detailed financial analysis to provide insights into the company’s performance.
  • Compile and update lists of debtors and creditors, ensuring timely reconciliation and payments.
  • Conduct reconciliation of accounts with clients and banks to ensure all financial records align.
  • Perform internal audits of company-owned petrol stations, ensuring adherence to financial policies and standards.
  • Ensure that all transactions comply with local and international accounting regulations and best practices.
  • Track and document expenses related to various company activities, including fuel sales and operational expenses.
  • Monitor all sales transactions, including cash, credit, and advance payments, ensuring proper documentation and reconciliation.
  • Collaborate with a team of accountants under the supervision of a senior accountant, assisting in complex financial tasks and sharing knowledge for team development.
  • Provide financial advice and input to the management team on cost control, budgeting, and financial efficiency.
  • Prepare detailed weekly reports outlining financial performance, expenditure tracking, and variance analysis.
  • Analyze company financial systems and procedures, proposing improvements to enhance financial performance, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
  • Provide strategic financial advice to management, assisting in budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
  • Support in the financial planning and decision-making process by offering insights on profitability and cash flow.

 

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role, with a solid understanding of financial management, reporting, and auditing.
  • Prior experience in working within a similar industry, particularly fuel, distribution, or retail, is advantageous.
  • Strong proficiency in Tally ERP for managing financial records and generating reports.
  • Adept with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Excel for financial modeling, analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong command of the English language (reading, writing, and speaking). Proficiency in French and/or Swahili is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrates integrity, with a commitment to ethical financial management.
  • A valid passport for potential travel requirements.
