DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Financial Leadership:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the company’s financial strategies and objectives.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management for decision-making.
  • Monitor and evaluate financial performance and suggest corrective actions where necessary.

Financial Planning & Reporting:

  • Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial performance, ensuring compliance with local regulations and accounting standards.
  • Prepare and manage the annual budget and forecast process, including variance analysis.
  • Ensure effective cash flow management and recommend strategies for optimizing working capital.

Accounting Operations:

  • Oversee all aspects of day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tax compliance.
  • Ensure proper accounting records are maintained in compliance with IFRS and other regulatory frameworks.
  • Manage and guide the finance team in handling complex accounting tasks such as reconciliations, financial statements, and audits.

Procurement & IT Strategy Integration:

  • Lead the implementation of procurement strategies to ensure cost-effective and efficient purchasing decisions.
  • Collaborate with the IT department to drive the implementation and integration of finance-related IT systems, ensuring accuracy and efficiency of financial data processing.
  • Ensure that financial systems are well-integrated with other operational areas (i.e., inventory, procurement).

 Internal Controls & Risk Management:

  • Develop and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Identify and assess financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate and manage internal and external audits to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team to enhance skills and improve performance.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Ensure continuous professional development and training for the finance team.

Stakeholder Communication & Advisory:

  • Liaise with external stakeholders, including auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities.
  • Provide strategic financial advice and insights to senior management and other departments.
  • Present financial reports and key performance indicators to the board of directors and other senior executives.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field & CPA K
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting, with at least 5 years in a senior-level role in an FMCG setup
  • Strong understanding of financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
  • Extensive knowledge of procurement, IT strategies, and financial systems implementation
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
