DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Installation and Commissioning:
- Install and set up a wide range of refrigeration systems, including walk-in coolers, freezers, display cases, and industrial chillers.
- Ensure proper electrical and refrigerant connections, adhering to local building codes and regulations.
- Perform system startup and commissioning, verifying correct operation and performance parameters.
Preventative Maintenance and System Optimization:
- Conduct scheduled maintenance checks, including cleaning coils, inspecting fans, and lubricating moving parts.
- Monitor system performance and identify potential issues before they lead to breakdowns.
- Optimize system efficiency by adjusting settings and performing refrigerant recharges as needed.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and records.
Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:
- Respond promptly to service calls and diagnose refrigeration system malfunctions.
- Utilize diagnostic tools, such as pressure gauges, thermometers, and electronic testers, to pinpoint problems.
- Interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams to trace faults.
- Evaluate system performance and determine the root cause of failures.
Repair and Component Replacement:
- Repair or replace faulty components, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion valves, and control boards.
- Braze and solder refrigerant lines as needed, ensuring leak-free connections.
- Reclaim and recycle refrigerants according to environmental regulations.
- Perform electrical repairs and replacements, including wiring, relays, and sensors.
System Performance Evaluation and Reporting:
- Conduct performance tests to evaluate system efficiency and capacity.
- Measure and record operating pressures, temperatures, and electrical parameters.
- Generate detailed service reports, outlining the work performed and any recommendations for further action.
- Provide customers with clear explanations of repairs and maintenance performed.
Inventory Management and Tool Maintenance:
- Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts and supplies.
- Ensure that all tools and equipment are in good working order and properly calibrated.
- Request and procure necessary parts and supplies as needed.
Customer Communication and Service:
- Communicate effectively with customers to schedule service appointments and provide updates on work progress.
- Address customer concerns and answer questions in a professional and courteous manner.
- Provide clear and concise explanations of system operation and maintenance procedures.
Safety Adherence:
- Strictly adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow safe refrigerant handling practices and comply with environmental regulations.
- Identify and mitigate potential hazards in the workplace.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Diploma in Refrigeration and Air-conditioning
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a Refrigeration Technician
- Strong knowledge of refrigeration principles and systems
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and testing equipment
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
