DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate the cash register and process customer transactions efficiently and accurately.
  • Ensure proper handling of cash, credit, and Mpesa payments, providing change as necessary.
  • Assist in customer service inquiries, including processing refunds and exchanges.
  • Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or exchanges as required by store policy.
  • Perform daily sales reconciliation, ensuring that the cash register balance matches the recorded sales.
  • Reconcile daily bank and Mpesa transactions with sales records to ensure accuracy.
  • Manage and track payments, invoices, and receipts, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded correctly.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable and receivable.
  • Generate invoices for goods sold, ensuring all information is accurate and properly documented.
  • Maintain organized records of all financial documents, including invoices, receipts, and payment confirmations.
  • Assist with inventory management and track purchases for financial reporting.
  • Respond to customer inquiries in a professional manner.
  • Assist in managing relationships with suppliers and ensuring timely payments are made.
  • Utilize the Point of Sale (POS) system to manage transactions, sales, and inventory accurately.
  • Troubleshoot basic issues with the POS system and escalate technical issues when necessary.
  • Assist the management team with any additional accounting-related tasks or projects.
  • Provide support during stock taking and audits as required.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • A diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a retail environment, with experience as a cashier and performing basic accounting functions.
  • Proven experience in sales reconciliation, bank and Mpesa reconciliation, invoicing, and record-keeping.
  • Familiarity with POS systems is an added advantage.
