WELDING TECHNICIAN

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Interpretation and Planning:

• Interpret and accurately follow engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine welding requirements, dimensions, and desired outcomes.
• Select the most appropriate welding methods (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick, Arc welding) and

equipment based on material type, thickness, joint configuration, and project specifications.

Preparation and Execution:

• Prepare materials and surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, bevelling, and positioning components to ensure proper fit-up and adhesion.
• Operate a variety of welding equipment and tools safely and efficiently to fuse metals

according to specifications.

• Monitor the welding process continuously, making necessary adjustments to settings (e.g., voltage, amperage, wire feed speed, gas flow) to achieve optimal performance and weld quality.

Quality Assurance:

• Thoroughly inspect completed welds for structural soundness, quality, and adherence to specifications, identifying and addressing defects such as porosity, cracks, undercut, or incomplete fusion.

Maintenance and Safety:

• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on welding tools and equipment to ensure they remain in excellent working condition and prolong their lifespan.
• Strictly adhere to all industry codes, company safety regulations, and best practices, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.

Documentation:

• Maintain accurate and detailed records of work completed, materials used, process parameters, and inspection results for traceability and quality control purposes.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

• Diploma in Welding Technology:/Mechanical Engineering or related field (required)
• Must be a certified welder(AWS, CWB)
• Over 3years experience as a welding technician
• Proficiency in Welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick)
• Ability to interpret technical drawing and CAD models
