DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Policy Analysis & Advisory Services
- Conduct in-depth analysis of trade policies, regulations, and regional integration frameworks.
- Provide expert advice on trade facilitation, tariff and non-tariff measures, customs processes, and market access issues.
- Draft policy briefs, technical papers, and recommendations to inform national and regional decision-making.
- Assess the impact of trade agreements, economic partnerships, and regional integration initiatives.
Technical Support & Programme Implementation
- Support the design, implementation, and evaluation of trade-related programmes and reforms.
- Offer technical assistance to government agencies, private sector actors, and regional institutions on strengthening trade systems.
- Identify capacity gaps and contribute to the development of tools, guidelines, and training materials related to trade policy.
Stakeholder Coordination & Engagement
- Engage with policymakers, development partners, private sector representatives, and regional bodies to support dialogue on trade issues.
- Facilitate consultations, workshops, and technical meetings on trade policy and regional integration.
- Represent the programme in technical working groups, stakeholder forums, and regional discussions.
Research & Knowledge Generation
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on emerging trends in trade, digital trade, regional value chains, and economic development.
- Produce high-quality reports, analytical notes, presentations, and knowledge products.
- Track global and regional policy developments and provide timely insights to inform strategic decisions.
Monitoring & Evaluation
- Contribute to monitoring and reporting on trade policy outputs, outcomes, and reforms supported by the programme.
- Document lessons learned, best practices, and success stories to support continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- MBA in Economics, International Trade, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 7–10 years relevant experience in trade policy analysis, economic development, or regional integration.
- Demonstrated experience working with government ministries, regional economic communities, or international development organisations.
- Strong background in trade policy research, impact assessments, and economic modelling is an advantage.
- Proven ability to provide authoritative technical advice in complex and dynamic policy environments.
