DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Operations Management:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting functions and ensure the accurate recording of transactions.
 - Manage the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring compliance with Kenyan Financial Reporting Standards.
 - Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
 
Taxation and Compliance:
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns (VAT, PAYE, corporate tax, etc.) in compliance with Kenyan Revenue Authority (KRA) regulations.
 - Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and implement necessary changes to maintain compliance.
 - Liaise with external auditors and tax consultants for tax audits and related matters.
 
Budgeting and Financial Planning:
- Support the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
 - Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management to aid in decision-making.
 - Assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities and improving financial performance.
 
Internal Controls and Reporting:
- Develop, implement, and review internal controls to safeguard the company’s financial assets.
 - Prepare and present accurate financial reports to management and stakeholders.
 - Assist in the development and maintenance of financial policies and procedures.
 
Strategic Decision Support:
- Provide financial analysis to support strategic business decisions.
 - Ensure alignment of financial activities with the company’s strategic goals.
 - Analyze financial performance, trends, and risks and provide actionable recommendations.
 
Team Management & Development:
- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, ensuring continuous professional development.
 - Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching for growth and improvement.
 
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- CPA-K is a MUST, a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred
 - At least 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience in a dynamic, fast-paced business environment
 - Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax laws and accounting standards (IFRS). Proficient in accounting software and MS Excel.
 - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex financial data in an understandable way to non-financial stakeholders
 - Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
