JOB SUMMARY
The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors, and property within the designated area of assignment. This role involves surveillance, patrol duties, and enforcing security protocols as necessary. The Security Officer may also be required to respond to incidents, emergencies, and alarms, ensuring appropriate actions are taken in accordance with company policies and procedures. Additionally, the Security Officer may need to interact with law enforcement agencies, emergency services, and external stakeholders as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Patrols entire grounds before taking over from day officer.
- Records a taking over report at the start of his shift.
- Receives and vets authorized visitors and vehicles coming into the grounds after hours.
- Inspects and counterchecks gate passes for vehicles and items leaving the grounds.
- Patrols his respective area, punching the clocking machine after every 10 minutes if patrolling area B and after every 20 minutes if patrolling area A.
- Starts patrols at Zone A at 1900hrs to 0530hrs, making a total of 10 clock ins in every clocking machine, in Zone B starts patrolling at 2000hrs to 0530hrs, making a total of 9 clock ins.
- Ensures all security lights are on.
- Ensures all areas not in use are locked.
- Ensures all vehicles parked around the compound are safely locked.
- Ensures all assets around the compound are safely secured.
- Ensures the dogs are present and active during patrols.
- Ensures all unnecessary lights are switched off.
- Keeps watch, alert and vigilant throughout the night.
- Notes and reports all anomalies and incidents to the Security Supervisor.
- Maintains the occurrence book accurately and updated.
- Submits a handing over report at the end of his shift.
- Any other duty allocated to them by the Immediate Supervisor.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- High School Certificate
- Previous experience in security or a similar field is preferred
- Experience with surveillance systems, patrolling, and incident response is an asset
- Ability to stay calm and focused during emergencies or high-pressure situations
- Excellent surveillance and observation skills
