JOB SUMMARY
The Production Manager will to oversee and optimize the production process in our pasta/spaghetti manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems related to pasta production equipment and experience in leading a team in a high-paced manufacturing environment. This leadership role is crucial in ensuring the efficient, safe, and high-quality production of pasta products.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee Day-to-Day Production Operations:

  • Supervise the entire production process, from raw material reception through to the final product output.
  • Ensure that production goals are met consistently, with a focus on quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Ensure all processes align with operational targets, KPIs, and quality standards.
  • Monitor production workflows to anticipate and address potential issues before they affect production schedules.

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of machine operators, production staff, and supervisors.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork and high performance.
  • Provide on-the-job training and development opportunities to enhance skill sets and boost morale.
  • Conduct performance reviews, setting clear goals, and providing regular feedback to enhance staff performance.

Equipment Setup, Calibration, and Operation:

  • Ensure the proper setup, calibration, and operation of pasta production equipment to maintain optimal efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to perform regular preventive maintenance and address urgent repairs as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues in a timely manner, minimizing downtime and disruptions.
  • Continuously assess and improve the equipment’s performance to ensure production reliability.

Quality Control & Compliance:

  • Ensure that production meets the highest standards of quality by implementing and enforcing strict quality control procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with food safety regulations and ensure that all aspects of production comply with relevant safety, sanitation, and food standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO 9001).
  • Work with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to monitor and test finished products to confirm compliance with quality specifications.
  • Address and resolve any quality issues promptly, implementing corrective actions when necessary.

Troubleshooting & Maintenance:

  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and operational issues with production lines in collaboration with the maintenance team.
  • Manage emergency repairs to avoid excessive production delays, reducing the overall downtime.
  • Track machine performance metrics and recommend upgrades or replacements to improve reliability and productivity.

Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement:

  • Analyze production data, including efficiency rates, downtime logs, and output, to identify areas for improvement.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to reduce waste, enhance productivity, and streamline operations.
  • Work with other departments (e.g., R&D, Engineering) to implement new technologies or equipment that enhance production processes.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing principles and strategies to optimize workflow and minimize waste.

Reporting and Data Analysis:

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess production line efficiency, product quality, and staff performance.
  • Prepare and present regular performance reports to senior management, highlighting successes, challenges, and areas for improvement.
  • Use data analytics to forecast potential production issues, optimize staffing levels, and ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of production outputs, downtime, and resource usage.

Collaboration Across Departments:

  • Work closely with Supply Chain and Inventory Management teams to ensure the availability of raw materials and packaging materials.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance team to develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and address urgent equipment breakdowns.
  • Ensure smooth communication with the Quality Assurance team for the resolution of product defects and to continuously improve processes.
  • Coordinate with the Logistics department to ensure timely distribution of finished products in line with customer demand.

Health, Safety, and Regulatory Compliance:

  • Foster a safety-conscious culture by ensuring all employees adhere to plant safety protocols and regulations.
  • Maintain and enforce sanitation and safety procedures in compliance with local and international regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and work with the team to address any potential hazards or unsafe practices.
  • Stay informed about changes in regulations related to food safety, environmental standards, and workplace safety, ensuring compliance at all times.

Inventory Control & Supply Chain Management:

  • Manage inventory levels of raw materials, ingredients, and packaging supplies to prevent shortages or overstocking.
  • Work with purchasing to forecast material needs based on production schedules and seasonal demand.
  • Implement efficient stock rotation and material usage practices to reduce waste and optimize costs.
  • Ensure timely reordering of supplies to prevent production disruptions.

Production Scheduling:

  • Develop and maintain production schedules to meet customer orders and optimize resource utilization.
  • Adjust production plans as needed to accommodate last-minute changes in customer demand or raw material availability.
  • Work with the Supply Chain team to align production schedules with inventory management and shipping logistics.

 

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in pasta/spaghetti manufacturing, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems related to pasta production equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP, GMP, and other industry standards.
