DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Record Management

  • Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Prepare and post journal entries and reconciliations, including month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Monitor and manage accounts payable and receivable to ensure timely processing and cash flow management.

Inventory and Cost Accounting

  • Oversee inventory valuation and reconciliation processes in line with manufacturing operations.
  • Track and analyze production costs, including raw materials, labor, and overheads, to assist in pricing and profitability analysis.
  • Work closely with the production and procurement teams to ensure accurate recording of inventory movements and stock levels.

Tax Compliance and Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with all Kenyan tax regulations including VAT, PAYE, withholding taxes, and corporate taxes.
  • Prepare and file statutory tax returns and reports accurately and on time.
  • Liaise with tax authorities and external auditors during tax audits and reviews.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
  • Provide financial analysis and variance explanations to management to support business decisions.
  • Monitor budget adherence and report discrepancies or potential risks.

 

 

Audit and Controls

  • Coordinate and facilitate external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Implement audit recommendations and ensure strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Continuously improve accounting procedures and internal controls to enhance efficiency and compliance.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with manufacturing, procurement, and sales teams to ensure financial processes support operational requirements.
  • Provide financial insights and advice to department heads to improve cost efficiency and profitability.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA qualification is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 4–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of Kenyan tax laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven experience in inventory and cost accounting is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • High integrity and strong attention to detail.
