DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the bank's commercial strategy in alignment with overall corporate goals.
  • Identify growth opportunities and lead the expansion of banking services across East Africa.
  • Provide strategic direction on product and service innovation to ensure relevance in a competitive market.
  • Analyze industry trends and market dynamics to shape long-term strategic decisions.

Business Development and Market Expansion

  • Establish and nurture strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including corporate clients, regulators, and industry influencers.
  • Drive business development initiatives to capture new markets and customer segments.
  • Develop tailored financial solutions to meet the diverse needs of individual, SME, and corporate clients.
  • Spearhead initiatives to increase customer acquisition, retention, and market share.

Revenue Generation and Profitability

  • Set and achieve revenue and profitability targets for the bank’s commercial operations.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of products and services, ensuring sustainable growth.
  • Optimize pricing strategies and cost structures to enhance profitability.
  • Oversee the development of cross-selling initiatives to maximize customer lifetime value.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead and inspire a high-performing commercial team, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.
  • Mentor and coach team members to build capacity and ensure succession planning.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration between the commercial team and other departments.

 

Risk and Compliance Management

  • Ensure compliance with banking regulations and policies across all commercial activities.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with market expansion, client engagement, and product delivery.
  • Establish robust governance frameworks to manage operational and strategic risks.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of commercial initiatives.
  • Provide regular updates to the executive team on commercial performance and market trends.
  • Use data analytics to inform decision-making and refine strategies.

 

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Master’s degree in a Business-related field
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in the banking sector, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven track record of driving commercial growth and achieving business targets in a competitive banking environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of banking regulations, financial products, and market trends in East Africa.
  • Strong network of industry contacts and stakeholders in the banking and financial services sector.
