DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Recordkeeping & Reporting
- Maintain and update general ledger accounts, ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded and categorized.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow).
- Monitor financial activity, identify discrepancies, and perform timely reconciliations (bank accounts, supplier statements, etc.).
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Statutory Compliance & Taxation
- Prepare and submit statutory filings and other taxes in compliance with Tanzanian regulations.
- Maintain accurate records to support tax filings and facilitate audits.
- Keep up-to-date with changes in tax legislation and advise management on potential implications and opportunities.
- Liaise with TRA and other government agencies as required.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor actual expenditure against budget and highlight variances to management.
- Support departmental heads with budget tracking and expenditure planning.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Oversee processing of invoices, expense claims, and supplier payments to ensure timely and accurate disbursements.
- Generate customer invoices and track accounts receivable, ensuring prompt collections and effective credit control.
- Reconcile vendor and customer accounts monthly.
Audit, Controls & Compliance
- Coordinate and support internal and external audit processes by preparing documentation and addressing audit queries.
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud.
- Ensure compliance with company financial policies and regulatory standards.
Team Support & Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with finance team members and other departments to ensure financial goals align with company objectives.
- Provide financial insight and recommendations to support business decisions and strategic planning.
- Mentor junior finance staff, if required, and support capacity-building within the team.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience
- Solid knowledge of Tanzanian tax laws, regulatory requirements, and statutory compliance
- Proficient in accounting software and ERP systems such as Sage, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
