DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal use by management and external stakeholders.
- Analyze trends in revenues, costs, expenses, and other key financial indicators to provide actionable insights.
- Present financial reports with clear summaries and recommendations to guide business decisions.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with departmental heads to consolidate and align budget projections.
- Monitor ongoing expenditures against the approved budget and report any significant variances.
- Prepare rolling forecasts and scenario analyses to support agility in financial planning.
Cost Management & Profitability Analysis
- Track departmental and project-specific costs, identifying areas of inefficiency or overspending.
- Recommend cost-saving initiatives and perform break-even analysis and pricing strategies.
- Support product and service profitability analysis to optimize resource allocation.
Compliance & Statutory Obligations
- Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws, financial regulations, and statutory filing requirements (e.g., PAYE, VAT, NSSF, SHIF, etc.).
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial legislation and regulatory changes affecting the organization.
- Liaise with auditors, tax authorities, and other regulatory bodies as needed.
Internal Controls & Risk Management
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal control systems to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks through appropriate controls and policy recommendations.
- Ensure financial integrity by enforcing compliance with company policies and procedures.
Financial Systems & Process Improvement
- Maintain and improve the functionality of financial software systems and tools used for accounting and reporting.
- Streamline accounting processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of financial data.
- Provide training and support to other staff on financial procedures and systems where necessary.
Strategic Financial Advisory
- Act as a financial advisor to senior management by evaluating investment opportunities, funding strategies, and capital projects.
- Contribute financial insight to business cases, grant proposals, and strategic initiatives.
- Assist in long-term financial planning aligned with organizational goals.
Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
- Monitor cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs and strategic investments.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable cycles to optimize working capital.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and funding requirement reports.
Team Support & Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with other departments to gather data and ensure alignment in financial practices.
- Provide financial training and guidance to non-finance staff as needed.
- Support the finance team in month-end and year-end closing procedures.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field and CPA K
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in accounting or financial management
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations and statutory compliance in Kenya
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
