DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Assist in drafting job descriptions and advertising job vacancies.
- Coordinate shortlisting, interview scheduling, and candidate communication.
- Conduct reference checks and prepare onboarding documentation.
- Facilitate orientation for new hires and ensure smooth onboarding processes.
Employee Records & Documentation
- Maintain up-to-date employee records (digital and physical).
- Ensure accurate filing of contracts, appraisals, leave forms, warnings, and other HR documentation.
- Update HR databases with new hire information, terminations, changes in employment status, etc.
Employee Relations
- Support the HR Manager in handling disciplinary and grievance matters.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in managing employee issues.
- Help organize staff welfare activities and team-building events.
Performance Management
- Support in implementing performance appraisal processes.
- Track and follow up on performance improvement plans (PIPs).
- Compile performance data for HR analysis and reporting.
Training & Development
- Assist in identifying training needs and coordinating training sessions.
- Maintain training records and assist in evaluating training effectiveness.
Payroll & Leave Management
- Support payroll preparation by providing relevant employee data (absences, bonuses, deductions, etc.).
- Maintain accurate leave records and update leave balances.
- Respond to employee queries on payroll and benefits.
Compliance & Policy Implementation
- Ensure HR practices comply with Kenyan labor laws.
- Assist in implementing HR policies and procedures.
- Help coordinate statutory compliance including NSSF, SHIF, PAYE, etc.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree or Diploma in Human Resource Management or related field
- At least 3 years’ experience as an HR Generalist in a busy HR department
- Member of IHRM is an added advantage
- Good understanding of Kenyan labor laws and HR best practices
- Proficient in MS Office and HR software systems
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
