Duties and Responsibilities

·         Plan, organize, and oversee all farm activities, including planting, cultivation, irrigation, pest control, and harvesting.

·         Develop and implement operational plans, schedules, and budgets to optimize resource allocation and maximize productivity.

·         Monitor weather conditions, soil quality, and crop health to make informed decisions and mitigate risks.

·         Ensure compliance with agricultural regulations, safety protocols, and environmental standards.

·         Recruit, train, and supervise farm workers, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback as needed.

·         Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

·         Promote a safe and inclusive work environment, enforcing health and safety procedures and addressing any workplace concerns or incidents promptly.

·         Plan crop rotations, select appropriate crops/varieties, and determine planting and harvesting schedules based on market demand, soil conditions, and climate factors.

·         Monitor crop growth and development, implementing irrigation, fertilization, and pest management strategies to optimize yields and quality.

·         Maintain accurate records of crop inputs, yields, and field activities for reporting and analysis purposes.

·         Develop annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans for the farm, tracking expenses, revenues, and performance indicators.

·         Control costs, negotiate contracts with suppliers, and optimize procurement of inputs and equipment to achieve cost efficiencies and profitability.

·         Analyze financial reports and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and strategic opportunities.

·         Collaborate with suppliers, contractors, agronomists, and other external partners to source inputs, services, and market opportunities.

·         Liaise with buyers, wholesalers, retailers, and agricultural organizations to market and sell farm products, negotiate contracts, and maintain customer relationships.

·         Represent the farm at industry events, conferences, and community meetings, promoting the farm's brand and engaging with stakeholders

Key Requirements Skills, experience and qualification

·         Proven experience in farm management or agricultural production, with knowledge of crop husbandry, farm machinery, and agricultural best practices.

·         Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams, solve problems, and make strategic decisions.

·         Sound understanding of financial management, budgeting, and business planning principles.

·         Familiarity with agricultural technology, precision farming tools, and data analysis techniques.

·         Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.

·         Physical stamina and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

·         Commitment to sustainable farming practices, environmental stewardship, and food safety standards.
