JOB SUMMARY
Applications are invited from candidates with good experience working in a Building Services for an Electrical/Electronic Engineer role. The incumbent will be responsible for Conducting major assignments in the Electrical Engineering fields. Plan, design, organise and control complex projects and make recommendations on alternative solutions to engineering problems. Prepare and present technical reports, institute changes in methods, design or equipment.
KEY DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES
· Electrical and electronic building services: small power, lighting, UPS, generators, Transformers, DB and MCC’s, LV Cabling, MV Distribution, Lightning protection, HVAC Electrical, Solar PV, Security Systems;
· System selection through Value Engineering.
· Budget Cost/Estimating for capital, maintenance and energy.
· Capital, Maintenance and Energy preparation of concept and development reports.
· Detail design and engineering.
· System coordination with other services and fitting into building.
· Preparing sketch drawings for the Drawing Office, supervision and checking of production of tender drawings and signing of same.
· Preparation of specifications for contract documents. Learn the company products and services to ensure excellent knowledge for entire range of products;
· Make sure the Contractor’s performance is in accordance with the agreed programme and report in writing any deviation.
· Inspect quality of completed work on site and report in writing in terms of compliance with contract document or any deviations.
· Valuation of completed work on site and comparison with contractors claim/submitted cash flow and report in writing any deviations.
· Writing of letters and reports to Clients, Architects, other members of the professional team and authorities, to confirm instructions, design criteria, coordination and approval.
· Implementing of the necessary internal and external communication forms.
· Implementing of standardised and comprehensible systems for filing of correspondence, forms, minutes of meetings, certificates, etc. to ensure that communication with all involved parties - internal and external - is maintained,
· Provide the Project Manager with the complete design file, including equipment schedules and signed of drawings. Assist with completion of bill of quantities;
· Adhere to project management procedure and standards as per the S & P project management manual.
· Adhere to internal cost/time/administration procedures. Provide feedback on shortcomings in design/documentation, which affect the construction phase negatively.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
· BSc Eng. (Electrical and Electronics)
· Preference given to professionally registered engineers.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
· 5 – 7 years consulting engineering experience in building services.
· Designs and applications of Electrical building services
· Report writing
· Project management
· Financial budgeting, control and certification
· Computer literate, MS office, Outlook, design software
· Good verbal and writing communication skills
· Proficient in English
